LDAP - Lightweight Directory Access Protocol

Standardized Directory Service

Modern day IT-Infrastructure is constantly expanding, making administration more and more complex. The lack of interfaces leads to redundant information and therefore often to inconsistent data storage units.

The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol offers the possibility to store information in a central location for quicker, easier and safer access. Such information could be for example: user accounts, passwords, email addresses, telephone numbers, user data, security certificates or equipment configuration data.

Also in the sphere of applications, modern software packages frequently offer an LDAP interface and thereby utilize the central directory services for login, address books and access codes, etc.

Single Sign On

With LDAP as a directory service a platform independent authentication procedure can be introduced. Programs and operating systems, which operate under appropriate mechanisms, can employ central authentications methods.
