Extensions for PTC Creo: SF ModelCHECK Extensions

Extensions for PTC Creo: Why the standard ModelCHECK in Creo is often not enough

Extend ModelCHECK to include company-specific validation criteria

SF ModelCHECK Extensions enhances the out-of-the-box ModelCHECK module in PTC Creo Parametric with additional checking and repair functions for company-specific design standards. Tolerance standards, unit systems, 3D views, combined states and geometries are automatically checked and, where necessary, repaired directly – all integrated into Creo’s native ModelCHECK interface. The result is consistent CAD models that reliably pass through subsequent process chains.

PTC Creo Parametric includes ModelCHECK, a powerful tool for ensuring compliance with design standards. However, the out-of-the-box module only covers generic validation criteria – it cannot fully accommodate company-specific model standards, guidelines for specific component types or industry-specific requirements.

SF ModelCHECK Extensions bridges this gap: the add-on integrates directly into the standard ModelCHECK interface and enhances it with additional checking and repair functions. Whether cast, milled, turned, welded or plastic components – the use of template models ensures that all component types are covered.

Seamless integration

SF ModelCHECK Extensions integrates directly into the native ModelCHECK interface of PTC Creo – no need to switch between tools, and no need to familiarise yourself with new user interfaces.

Check & Repair

Incorrect model standards are not only detected but also corrected automatically – for tolerances, unit systems, 3D views and other criteria.

Custom configuration

Global configurations based on the standard ModelCHECK settings enable precise alignment with company-specific design standards.

All component types

Template models extend the inspection to cast, milled, turned, welded and plastic components – there are no restrictions based on component type.

SF ModelCHECK Extensions in detail – Extensions for PTC Creo

How SF ModelCHECK Extensions works

SF ModelCHECK Extensions enhances the ModelCHECK module included in PTC Creo Parametric with additional verification features that go beyond the out-of-the-box functionality. The extension is integrated directly into the standard ModelCHECK user interface and therefore appears to the user as a native part of Creo.

Configuration is based on the familiar ModelCHECK configuration files: check criteria can be enabled, disabled and controlled at a global level. This allows the add-on to be tailored precisely to the company’s own modelling standards and design guidelines – for assemblies, individual parts and drawings.

An overview of testing and repair functions

SF ModelCHECK Extensions offers checking and repair functions for all relevant model areas in PTC Creo. The main check categories are:
In addition, cross-sections, exploded views (ASM) and component display modes are checked. Repair mode automatically corrects discrepancies without the designer having to intervene manually.

Template models for all component types

A key feature of SF ModelCHECK Extensions is the use of template models: these define the desired target state for different component types and form the basis for automatic inspection and repair. This allows cast, milled, turned, welded and plastic components to be managed using appropriate inspection profiles for each – without the need for manual adjustment for each individual component.

Higher CAD data quality throughout the entire process chain

CAD models that comply with company-specific standards flow through downstream process chains more reliably and with less need for correction. SF ModelCHECK Extensions makes systematic compliance with these standards an integrated, automatable step in the design process within PTC Creo.

General enquiries about SF ModelCHECK Extensions

What is SF ModelCHECK Extensions for PTC Creo?
SF ModelCHECK Extensions is an add-on for PTC Creo Parametric that extends the native out-of-the-box ModelCHECK module with additional checking and repair functions for company-specific model and design standards. It integrates directly into the standard ModelCHECK interface and behaves as if it were a native part of Creo.

ModelCHECK OOTB checks against generic design standards and modelling practices specified by PTC. SF ModelCHECK Extensions supplements this module with additional validation features specifically tailored to company-specific requirements – for tolerance standards, combined states, unit systems and other criteria not covered out-of-the-box.

SF ModelCHECK Extensions checks and repairs tolerance standards (ANSI/ISO), 3D views, unit systems, layer states, combined states, cross-sections, exploded views, component display states and geometries for mini-surfaces and short edges. For many criteria, an automatic repair function is available in addition to the check.

Configuration is carried out using the familiar ModelCHECK configuration files. Verification criteria can be enabled or disabled globally, and template models define the target state for different component types. This enables all of the company’s own design standards to be accurately reflected.

By using template models, SF ModelCHECK Extensions supports all common component types: cast, milled, turned, welded and plastic components. Each component type can be assigned its own inspection profile.

No, SF ModelCHECK Extensions is integrated directly into the native ModelCHECK user interface in PTC Creo. Users familiar with ModelCHECK can start using the extension straight away without the need for additional training.

Yes, SF ModelCHECK Extensions supports not only PRT and ASM modes but also DRW mode for drawings. In drawing mode, tolerance standards in particular are checked and corrected.

CAD models that comply with the company’s own standards result in fewer corrections and queries in downstream processes – NC programming, simulation, manufacturing and quality inspection. SF ModelCHECK Extensions ensures that models systematically and automatically comply with these standards before they are passed on.
