Extensions for PTC Creo: Why the standard ModelCHECK in Creo is often not enough
Extend ModelCHECK to include company-specific validation criteria
PTC Creo Parametric includes ModelCHECK, a powerful tool for ensuring compliance with design standards. However, the out-of-the-box module only covers generic validation criteria – it cannot fully accommodate company-specific model standards, guidelines for specific component types or industry-specific requirements.
SF ModelCHECK Extensions bridges this gap: the add-on integrates directly into the standard ModelCHECK interface and enhances it with additional checking and repair functions. Whether cast, milled, turned, welded or plastic components – the use of template models ensures that all component types are covered.
- Benefits of SF ModelCHECK Extensions
Seamless integration
SF ModelCHECK Extensions integrates directly into the native ModelCHECK interface of PTC Creo – no need to switch between tools, and no need to familiarise yourself with new user interfaces.
Check & Repair
Incorrect model standards are not only detected but also corrected automatically – for tolerances, unit systems, 3D views and other criteria.
Custom configuration
All component types
Template models extend the inspection to cast, milled, turned, welded and plastic components – there are no restrictions based on component type.
- Check and Repair for company-specific Creo model standards
SF ModelCHECK Extensions in detail – Extensions for PTC Creo
How SF ModelCHECK Extensions works
SF ModelCHECK Extensions enhances the ModelCHECK module included in PTC Creo Parametric with additional verification features that go beyond the out-of-the-box functionality. The extension is integrated directly into the standard ModelCHECK user interface and therefore appears to the user as a native part of Creo.
Configuration is based on the familiar ModelCHECK configuration files: check criteria can be enabled, disabled and controlled at a global level. This allows the add-on to be tailored precisely to the company’s own modelling standards and design guidelines – for assemblies, individual parts and drawings.
An overview of testing and repair functions
- Tolerance standards (PRT/ASM/DRW): Verification and correction in accordance with ANSI and ISO
- 3D views (PRT/ASM): existence, orientation and automatic generation of missing views
- Unit systems (PRT/ASM): Type (MLT/FLT), unit testing and redefinition
- Combined States and Plane States: Checking for completeness, and creating and correcting missing states
- Simplified representations (PRT and ASM modes): Checking for the existence of simplified representations and creating any missing simplified representations (Check/Repair)
- Geometries (PRT): small surfaces, short/sharp edges and small radii

General enquiries about SF ModelCHECK Extensions
What is SF ModelCHECK Extensions for PTC Creo?
What is the difference between ModelCHECK OOTB and SF ModelCHECK Extensions?
ModelCHECK OOTB checks against generic design standards and modelling practices specified by PTC. SF ModelCHECK Extensions supplements this module with additional validation features specifically tailored to company-specific requirements – for tolerance standards, combined states, unit systems and other criteria not covered out-of-the-box.
What verification and repair functions does SF ModelCHECK Extensions offer?
How are company-specific standards stored in SF ModelCHECK Extensions?
Configuration is carried out using the familiar ModelCHECK configuration files. Verification criteria can be enabled or disabled globally, and template models define the target state for different component types. This enables all of the company’s own design standards to be accurately reflected.
Which component types are supported by SF ModelCHECK Extensions?
Do I need to learn a new interface to use SF ModelCHECK Extensions?
No, SF ModelCHECK Extensions is integrated directly into the native ModelCHECK user interface in PTC Creo. Users familiar with ModelCHECK can start using the extension straight away without the need for additional training.
Can SF ModelCHECK Extensions also check drawings?
Yes, SF ModelCHECK Extensions supports not only PRT and ASM modes but also DRW mode for drawings. In drawing mode, tolerance standards in particular are checked and corrected.
