ViWiAC - SF research project

In the research project ViWiAC the active structure connection was visualised in CAD.

The modelling tool had the task of visualising the functionality in CAD in the form of functional structures as early as the system design stage. This made functions traceable and comprehensible right from the start and created the prerequisites for the design. Once the design had been implemented in CAD, a directly linked visualisation of function and form was offered in the CAD interface for the first time. The modelling of the function-design relationship according to the C&C²-A (Contact and Channel Approach) was based on interactions in the use of the later product.

The result was a noticeable simplification of the analysis of the impact structures to answer the question „Why does it look the way it does?“

The 24-month project was funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and supervised by AiF Projekt GmbH ZIM-Kooperationsprojekte as the project management organisation. Software Factory worked on the project together with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Institute for Product Development (KIT IPEK).

The aim of the project was to document the target functions during the system design phase. This made it much easier to analyse the impact structures.
